“I utilize traditional Native imagery and convey it within a more contemporary setting that shows the influence of the place where I’m from and the stories of my heritage. I feel this is important for those who aren’t familiar with Lakota legends and keeping those traditions alive. My current artwork is more mature and more respectful of my people and stories ... drawing people into the work and explaining the meaning of the piece they might not understand, such as symbology, colors, and animals ... creating conversation.”
