“As an exhibiting artist, my paintings reflect my experiences of family and land of rural South Dakota. This series was inspired by years of simple living in the country with little more than electricity and a little running water that we came to know as ‘fancy’ camping. There is a special kind of night sky and stars available to those who live in rural South Dakota,
especially in the farming community of Clay County. This piece hints at the dark, soft night skies with a close value range of dark blues, violets, bottle greens, and deep grays.”
