This piece was commissioned by the Frist Art Museum. For this community-based project, I was asked to interview a first-time voter in the 2020 election. My good friend Drenusha Kolshi, here in the portrait, had just become naturalized in order to gain her voting rights. I wanted to make her portrait larger than life to capture her story and to show the viewers how the fabric of our society is made of many different and beautiful stories.
