Jazz responds to the idea of improvisation through “responsive play”. Using folded pages, the viewer is prompted to respond to the interactions of the individual pages and spreads as they advance through the book, experiencing evolving compositions and interactions.

All materials including imagery and text are sourced from two publications that discussed the history of jazz music and elements of jazz in creativity.
