Ibejí, which translates to twins in Yoruba further visualizes Elliot & Erick’s lived experience within Lucumí as twins as well as the duality of worlds from which they exist in. The self portrait of twin shadow figures adorned in ruffs suggests the fusion of both West African and Spanish influence that took place in Cuba during its colonization.
