Known for abstract hybrids of drawing and painting, Sky Pape’s novel techniques emphasize a deep engagement with materials and mark-making. Pape has exhibited widely in gallery and museums and is represented in museum, corporate, and private collections internationally, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Pape’s honors and awards include two fellowships from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation, and grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the E.D. Foundation, the Ruth and Harold Chenven Foundation, Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, and a City Artist Corps grant from New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)/NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. Sky has received fully-funded residency fellowships in Italy from the Rockefeller Foundation and the Bogliasco Foundation, and in upstate New York from the Swimming Hole Foundation. The Art Dealers Association of America honored work from Pape's solo exhibition at the most recent presentation of The Art Show art fair as "Best in Show Object." Published reviews of Pape’s work include The New York Times, ARTnews, Art & Antiques, and more. In 2025, Sky Pape was inducted as a National Academician in the National Academy of Design, the leading honorary society for visual artists and architects in the United States.
