Together

Working with the myth of Lady Godiva riding through town, and following the lead of many artists to visualize the activist suffragists, I explored ways to use this imagery for my quilt. In my research, two stories struck a chord—the 1913 suffragist parade and a woman on a white horse. Leap forward 100 years: Women are still marching together, arm in arm, showing a united front with the clear message that “Together” things can change and mountains are moved.

Juntos (2018)

Trabajando con el mito de Lady Godiva cabalgando por la ciudad, y siguiendo el ejemplo de muchos artistas para visualizar a las sufragistas activistas, exploré formas de usar estas imágenes para mi colcha. En mi investigación, dos historias tocaron la fibra sensible: el desfile sufragista de 1913 y una mujer en un caballo blanco. Salto hacia adelante 100 años: Las mujeres siguen marchando juntas, cogidas del brazo, mostrando un frente unido con el mensaje claro de que “juntas” las cosas pueden cambiar y las montañas se mueven.

Cùng nhau (2018)

Làm việc với huyền thoại về Lady Godiva cưỡi ngựa qua thị trấn và theo sự hướng dẫn của nhiều nghệ sĩ để hình dung những người đấu tranh cho những người đau khổ, tôi đã khám phá các cách sử dụng hình ảnh này cho chăn bông của mình.
