For this project, I was fortunate to find a book devoted to suffragist sheet music with songs that date back to as early as 1875. Actual book pages make up the background of my quilt. The lyrics were an eye opener for me. When I first got involved with this project, I thought the suffragist movement was strictly about the right to vote. Their efforts to succeed set the stage for grassroots efforts to come, proving that determined citizens can achieve change.

Para este proyecto, tuve la suerte de encontrar un libro dedicado a las partituras sufragistas con canciones que se remontan a 1875. Las páginas de un libro real constituyen el fondo de mi colcha. La letra me abrió los ojos. Cuando me involucré por primera vez en este proyecto, pensé que el movimiento sufragista se trataba estrictamente del derecho al voto. Sus esfuerzos por tener éxito prepararon el escenario para los esfuerzos de base que vendrán, demostrando que ciudadanos decididos pueden lograr el cambio.

Đối với dự án này, tôi đã may mắn tìm thấy một cuốn sách dành riêng cho bản nhạc của người đau khổ với những bài hát có từ đầu năm 1875. Những trang sách thực tế tạo nên nền cho chiếc chăn bông của tôi. Lời bài hát đã giúp tôi mở rộng tầm mắt. Khi tôi lần đầu tiên tham gia vào dự án này, tôi nghĩ rằng phong trào đấu tranh cho người đau khổ nghiêm túc về quyền bầu cử. Những nỗ lực của họ để thành công đã tạo tiền đề cho những nỗ lực cấp cơ sở sau này, chứng minh rằng những công dân quyết tâm có thể đạt được sự thay đổi.
