The single pieced star was made of prints, polka dots and checks beginning with a blue print for the center followed by a yellow row. These colors, plus a red, are of the prints of the 1940s. The 69” x 69” star is set on a background of a medium green plain dyed fabric. A border and the binding of the green fabric complete the design. The quilting consists of outline of the diamonds that make up the star and in the green are wreaths with a star in the center and lines 3/4” between. The border has diamond chains. Quilting is by hand and with green thread.

The quilt was the winner the 1947 California State Fair. It was gifted to then Governor Earl Warren, who was an American politician and jurist who served as 30th governor of California from 1943 to 1953 and as the 14th chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1953 to 1969.
