Created with monotypes printed on old atlas and book pages, this collage embodies the promise of America to my immigrant ancestors. The overlapping fragments of maps form a palimpsest of displacement, adaptation, and rebuilding. Each layer signifies Jewish resilience and the insistence on not being erased—on participating in America’s democratic life despite past exile, ongoing persecution, and persistent antisemitism. This piece symbolizes the recognition that our freedom is never assured, always contested, and continually demands our attention.
