The Comfort of Color Variations of Chaos (detail): Outro
This 24" circle piece features vibrant color through mixed media, acrylic paint, alcohol inks, and painter's tape. Tape serves as both a masking tool and a conceptual device: I apply it to obscure painted layers, then peel it away to reveal unexpected color relationships underneath. This act of concealing and unveiling creates moments of discovery—bleeding colors, inexact borders, and accidental harmonies—mirroring unpredictable synesthetic sensations. The repetition and imperfections in my process reflect the daily labor of a mother and the energy required to undertake it. Like discarded tape, the domestic work of motherhood is essential but undervalued. Each painting is a physical manifestation of my synesthesia [sound ›› color, shape, movement].
