On my travels, I came across a massive fiber doll adorned with a delightful patchwork of bright colors. Its whimsical form made me laugh the moment I saw it. As much as I loved it, there was simply no room in my life—or my home—for a five-foot-tall fiber art piece. Instead, I decided to photograph it and experiment with a multiple exposure, using distortion and repetition to highlight its vibrant patterns and playful form.
The layers overlap and merge, creating new forms and unexpected images, while the muted, warm palette evokes the gentle nostalgia of a well-loved photograph. Designed to stir comfort and memory, it invites the viewer to regard it as one would an old friend.
