Sheri Trepina
CASHMERE, Washington
A Contemporary Artist captivated by the shapes and textures in nature.
MessageSheri Trepina comes from a family of artists who nurtured her love of nature and art. The beauty of the family farm, at the base of the Cascade Mountains and the lush land and seascape of her part-time home in Hawaii influenced her love of colour, texture and design. Being mindful of the landscape of her youth has played a key role in the development of her art career.
Sheri’s work is nationally recognized. Elements in nature are the theme for her textural collage art. She pulls inspiration from the landscape, collecting local leaves and grasses which she uses to create preliminary marks on to watercolour paper. Her process includes the layering of papers and watercolour washes to achieve depth, texture and line. This movement of paint against these layers is thrilling to Sheri and gives her work and abstract quality. Sheri and her husband Don recently moved back to her family farm in Cashmere, WA. She is the 4th generation to work and draw inspiration from the land around her.
Sheri says “Art can enliven our daily lives, remind us of what is important and can create a reference to the world around us”.
Statement
I disrupt the quiet of nature with bold textures and unexpected palettes, transforming landscapes and botanicals into striking, abstracted visions. My work challenges viewers to see serenity as something powerful-layered, raw and alive beneath the surface. Each piece is an invitation to break from the ordinary and experience the wild energy woven into the natural world.
