Shelley Loring
O Fallon, IL
All art is personal. As an artist, my goal is to create artwork that brings a smile and touches a heart.
MessageShelley Loring grew up in the Chicago suburbs and was a frequent visitor to the Chicago Art Institute where love of color was born. In 2012, Shelley’s husband gave her the gift of an introductory course in stained glass and an artist was born. Shelley taught herself advanced stained glass techniques and explored other forms of the glass craft including designing and constructing mosaic art. After retiring Shelley took a drawing class at a local college with the intention of expanding her glass designs. It was in this class that she discovered an untapped talent and a forgotten passion: drawing and painting using charcoals, pastels, oils, and watercolors. Shelley went on to study art at Fontbonne University where she was trained in classical painting and design techniques.
Shelley’s work has been seen in the Concordia Seminary Annual Art exhibit, 2006; SWIC Artist League Juried Exhibition at McKendree University, 2021; the Edwardsville Art Center’s juried show “Cabin Fever” 2022; and has been accepted to the juried show “Parenthood”, at the Art St. Louis Gallery, 2022. Additionally, Shelley has won several awards including 1st place, St. Charles Art Glass Show, 2012 and People Choice Award, Gateway East Artist Guild annual show, 2024. Shelley is a available to commissions and art instruction.
