I turned to art as therapy at the age of fifty-seven after the loss of my mother in April 2020. The early days of the COVID pandemic and quarantine were a crazy time to grieve such a great loss, but learning to paint and create art in other forms not only got me through it, but helped me grow into the creative person I never knew I was.
Statement
The purpose of most of my art is to use to illustrate books for children. I’ve written a nonfiction children’s book about insects, and I’m currently working on one about birds. I also have a fiction picture book for young children about a little girl and the moon in the works as well as a middle grade chapter book about a boy and his dog that will have a few drawings in it.
I also create some art simply for the joy of it or to experiment with new expressions of art.
