My interdisciplinary practice investigates the social and linguistic constructs that shape identity, history, and collective memory in the United States.
MessageBands of black traverse a softly illuminated field, creating a measured geometry that recalls architectural drawing, musical staff, or horizon lines viewed from a great distance. The precision of the composition is disrupted only slightly by a hint of a cool, blue light at the upper edge, introducing a subtle interplay between order and atmosphere. The layered paper surface remains nearly imperceptible, suggesting concealment rather than declaration. Light moves quietly here, not illuminating but restraining, revealing structure through restraint.
