Under the Broadway
The Broadway bridge built in 1932, was Saskatoon’s third bridge which connected the east bank of the South Saskatchewan river to the city’s downtown. As I scrolled through the photos I had taken one fall afternoon I the one which held the most appeal to me was the view taken from under the bridge. The graceful curves of the arches, the sunlight gleaming on the foundation and the reflections on the water were more pronounced as I got down close to the riverbank. The reference photo for this painting was taken from the east side of the river in Rotary Park looking towards downtown.
