The Nipekamew River flows north from Nipekamew Lake into Lac la Ronge, part of the Churchill River system. This painting is based on a reference photo I took while hiking toward the Nipekamew Sand Cliffs, striking formations created by erosion and layered deposits of sand, pebble, and clay. Much of the area around the cliffs was later destroyed in the 2025 Shoe wildfire.
