I came across these end of season flowers on a cool September morning at Wanuskewin Heritage Park near Saskatoon, Sk. They were actually very tiny and close to the ground; the dandelion leaves and prairie grasses were all tangled up around flower stalks. The sharp contrast of the deep shadows at the base of the foliage and the bright seed puffs are what caught my eye for this painting.
