I grew up in Bayonne, NJ, "escaped" to the suburbs of South Plainfield when hubby and I married in 1979, and have been in beautiful NH since 1988. Although I love the energy of NYC, I always felt displaced in Bayonne and loved every opportunity to get out in Nature.
I am primarily a plein air painter and feel an almost urgent compulsion to document in paint the natural beauty that surrounds us. Over the years, I've seen landscapes and vistas lost to "progress" - building of roads, condos, housing developments, strip malls, etc. Many of the views painted by the White Mountain School in NH (mostly the same painters who were the famed Hudson River School) are either no longer accessible because the vantage point is now on private property or because the beauty views are now dotted with buildings like so many scars on the hillsides.
