Shana Bowes
Canton, GA
Shana Bowes is a self-taught artist creating realism drawings of looking up at clouds, architecture and the built environment.
MessageShana Bowes is a self-taught graphite and charcoal artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. Her work documents the built environment, especially the places overlooked: building reflections, skylines, and nostalgia. Shana grew up in Alpharetta, GA and spent two decades in New York City working in real estate construction. Architecture and cities have always felt alive to her.
But after years in corporate culture, she burned out. She left NYC finding her way back home to Georgia, where slowing down wasn’t easy - But it saved her. Her art is for the slowed down soul - for those that notice and appreciate their surroundings.
Now she works part-time in Community Development for the City of Woodstock, issuing building permits and business licenses. Shana understands how cities grow—and what they destroy in the process. She still feels the urgency of vanishing places and nostalgia, but also appreciates the modern perspectives that are missed in a hurry to get somewhere.
Her art has been featured in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Cherokee Tribune & Ledger-News, and American Art Collector magazine. She's created custom art for the Chick-fil-A restaurant on Riverstone Pkwy in Canton, GA, and Georgia Public TV (GPB TV). Shana's art has been selected into juried exhibitions throughout the Southeast, online, and is held in private collections including the families of the Plaza Theater, Rich's, and Coca Cola.
