Statement
My sculptural work is guided by spatial awareness and creative expression. With over 25 years making sculptures, my abstract works have evolved as I have gained proficiency in utilizing newer and more refined tools. The wood species employed have also improved, transitioning from construction-based woods to predominantly rare hardwoods. While human or animal forms are rarely depicted in my designs, my work is more often directed towards smooth, curved lines with the utilization of negative space. Contemporary pieces emphasize the warmth of natural wood, rarely stained or painted, allowing the actual wood finish to be showcased. At times, the live edge of the wood is contrasted to enhance the visual appeal.
