My creative approach is very simple and is probably similar to many other artists. I feel that there is no point in imitating nature even though I am an entirely accurate observer. Furthermore, from my personal standpoint, the closest representation of a girl would be inadequate because it would have neither life nor aura. I am trying to conceive a new form, something transcendent, a tangible image based upon real images, whether they are people, places or things. Essentially my work deals with establishing an environment with recognizable objects and forms and changing it by adding other unrelated images or colors to produce an entirely different environment. This final image provokes a macabre, mysterious feeling; one which is very personal to me. The piece, Untitled is an image that is very personal since it was at one time part of my daily experience of walking or riding to and from school. The technique involved is photo serigraphy, having started from a black and white photograph.
