“My overwhelming desire as an artist through the years has been to record the beauty of man-made objects and energy of American industry on canvas. From as far back as I can recall the cityscapes, farms and the depiction of industrial power and technological efficiency has had a great attraction for me. As an artist, I have found myself drawn to and reacting to my environment. Without reservations, I find myself agreeing with my classification as an “American Precisionist,” pre-occupied with translating observations into Syncopated Abstractions, with my personal clarity and formalism. As to the subjects that attract me and impress me, rather than to present reality, I try to treat these observations with personal honesty and distill these impressions to visual order.”

The mission of the South Carolina Arts Commission is to promote access to the arts and support the cultivation of creativity in South Carolina. We envision a South Carolina where the arts are valued and all people benefit from a variety of creative experiences.

A state agency created by the South Carolina General Assembly in 1967, the SCAC works to increase public participation in the arts through grants, direct programs, staff assistance and partnerships in artist development, arts industry, arts learning, creative placemaking, and folklife and traditional arts. Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., the SCAC is funded by the state of South Carolina, by the federal government through the National Endowment for the Arts, and other sources.
