BIOGRAPHY

Savvas Porakos was born in Limassol,Cyprus in 1969.

He showed an early talent and was awarded in children's art competitions in Cyprus and abroad.

A high school student still,had 2 solo exhibitions in galleries in Cyprus with a very good response from the public and critics.

After his graduation from the high school he did his military service.During that period in his free time he was drawing and painting his colleagues in the army and objects from his environment.

He studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Thessaloniki(1989-1995).At the same school he was taught printmaking,photography,history and aesthetic of Art and pedagogy lessons.He graduated from the painting workshop of Demetris Condos with the title of Integrated Master.

After graduation he worked for the next three years in various jobs until he took a teaching position in secondary schools in Greece where he worked and taught for 23 years.

He has visited many museums and art exhibitions in Europe to study the old masters,modern and contemporary art.

Central position in his work has the human figure,wanting to talk about the human condition,always through his subjective eye and experience.A big part of his work is about women and his relationship with them.

Many great painters from the past and especially the artists who have worked with the human figure,have influenced his work.Also the songs of Bob Dylan,the poetry and especially the Greek poetry and the environments where he has lived,have influenced his life and his work.

He works with drawing,painting,printmaking and recently with digital art.For a short period in the past he tried film black and white art photography but now he takes photos just to keep some memories to help him in his work or as documents of his life.

He had three solo exhibitions in Cyprus and he participated in a few group exhibitions in Greece and Cyprus.

His works are founded in many private collections in Greece and Solo exhibitions
