Saskia Bera ist eine deutsche Künstlerin, die den Menschen in den Mittelpunkt ihrer Arbeit stellt. Bera hat ihre Werke bereits international ausgestellt und verkauft.
Ihre Arbeiten kreisen um Gefühle, Kindheitserfahrungen und Traumata sowie um die vielfältigen Phänomene unserer Zeit, von gesellschaftlichen Umbrüchen bis hin zur Medialisierung und Digitalisierung der Gesellschaft. Im Zentrum ihrer Arbeit steht die Frage, wie Identität entsteht und wie aus Verletzungen und Brüchen positive Kraft und Transformation entstehen kann.
Sie beleuchtet die Diskrepanz zwischen Oberfläche und Innerem, zwischen aufgesetzter Fassade und reinem Gefühl und macht das Unsichtbare - die Seele, das Reale, das Fragile - sichtbar.
Ihre Porträts ähneln verletzlichen Oberflächen, die gleichzeitig innere Stärke offenbaren. Ihr Ausgangspunkt sind Medienbilder, die sie verfremdet und transformiert, bis das scheinbar Glatte und Schöne aufbricht und etwas Wahrhaftiges zum Vorschein kommt. In den Gesichtern treffen Oberfläche und Gefühl, Fassade und Seele aufeinander.
Die Verwendung von Alkoholtinte auf Acrylfarbe verstärkt diesen Effekt: Das Material fließt, bildet unvorhersehbare Strukturen und überlagert die Malerei mit Spuren des Zufalls. So entsteht ein fragiles Gleichgewicht zwischen Kontrolle und Loslassen, in dem jedes Werk seine eigene, unverwechselbare Präsenz gewinnt.

Saskia Bera is a German artist who places people at the centre of her work. Bera has already exhibited and sold her works internationally.
Her works revolve around feelings, childhood experiences and traumas as well as the diverse phenomena of our time - from social upheavals to the medialisation and digitalisation of society. At the centre of her work is the question of how identity is created and how positive strength and transformation can emerge from injuries and ruptures.
She illuminates the discrepancy between surface and interior, between put-on façade and pure emotion, and makes the invisible - the soul, the real, the fragile - visible.
Her portraits resemble vulnerable surfaces that simultaneously reveal inner strength. Her starting point is media images, which she alienates and transforms until the seemingly smooth and beautiful breaks open and something truthful emerges. Surface and emotion, façade and soul meet in the faces.
The use of alcohol inks and acyrlics intensifies this effect: the material flows, forms unpredictable structures and overlays the painting with traces of chance. This creates a fragile balance between control and letting go, in which each work acquires its own unmistakable presence.
Statement
Am Anfang meiner Arbeit steht eine visuelle Begegnung, ein Bild, ein Video oder ein anderes Fragment aus der Flut medialer Eindrücke, an dem ich hängenbleibe. Dieses Ereignis versuche ich zu kontextualisieren und die Gefühle und Gedanken, die es in mir auslöst, malerisch zu rekonstruieren.
Im Mittelpunkt steht für mich immer der Mensch: entweder in figurativer Gestalt oder in Form von Emotionen, psychologischen Zuständen und kulturellen Prägungen. Der Raum, in dem sich der Mensch befindet, interessiert mich nicht, nur der Mensch selbst, sein Inneres, sein Wesen.

My work begins with a visual encounter - an image, a video or another fragment from the flood of media impressions that I get stuck on. I try to contextualise this event and reconstruct the feelings and thoughts it triggers in me through painting.
People are always at the centre of my work: either in figurative form or in the form of emotions, psychological states and cultural influences. I am not interested in the space in which the person is located - only the person himself, his inner self, his essence.
