Shadowplay – oil on canvas with sculpted flowers and torn Chinese paper collage
A serene woman rests with her eyes closed, her dark hair flowing into sculpted flowers and layered reds and greens. Torn fragments of Chinese paper form her garment, evoking the parts of ourselves we try to hide or erase. Drips of paint and edges that break past the frame blur realism and abstraction, inviting reflection on the beauty held in both light and shadow.
Artist’s Note
We all carry a shadow—those hidden, complicated parts we’d rather tear out. Shadowplay asks what happens if you don’t. The drips, the raw paper, the dark and the bright all belong. The whole story is what makes us beautiful.
