Statement
I am a mixed media artist currently working with watercolor and charcoal. My inspiration comes from multiple sources, nature being one of them. I create work that is expressionist and abstract. I am interested in creating paintings that are a bit different or striking, that catch your eye and hold you there. They allow you to feel emotion and movement in the brush strokes or movement in how the watercolors mix.
Another source of inspiration for me is emotion and the geometric shapes I see in my imagination when I feel an emotion about someone, something, a situation or experience. I keep my sketchbook next to my bed to draw my ideas, as they come to me often when I am getting ready to sleep.
All of my pieces explore the use of shadow, light and color to express emotion. I start with watercolors lying down the majority of the painting sometimes in layers and sometimes wet on wet. Then I go in with charcoal to create shadow and depth.
