The wind and moisture from a February storm begins to dissipate revealing the incredible profile of the east face of Pyramid Peak. The east face “Landry Line”, first skied in1978 by Chris Landry, is iconic amongst ski mountaineers in North America. It is difficult to climb and extremely risky during narrow windows of opportunity when conditions allow a descent. Lou Dawson completed the second descent in 1988 on the west side, however the intimidating Landry Line remained quiet and unskied for 28 yeas until Ted Mahon, Neal Beidleman and Chris Danvenport completed the second descent in 2006. Four years later in 2010, Ted’s wife Christy Mahon-Sauer became the first woman to ski it with Ted for her successful descent.
