Sarah Pearce’s paintings draw from the local landscapes of southern Indiana, but permeate familiar imagery with personal themes, ideas and symbols. With an eye for the mysterious, she creates enigmatic landscapes full of movement and color, finding the mythic in the space of the real. Pearce builds on the techniques of 20th century Modernism, achieving a balance between abstraction and realism. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she has an MFA in painting from Indiana University and a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. She currently lives in Bloomington, Indiana.
