“Each of us is raised into a light-filled world by our Father so that we can see where we’re going in our new grace-sovereign country.”
— Romans 6:4, The Message
This painting began during a live worship service in May with a single image in my spirit: a butterfly rising from the tomb. As I painted, I felt the Holy Spirit stirring a deep truth in me—not just about resurrection, but about permission. The tomb wasn’t a place of death, but a womb of transformation. It was never the end, only the beginning.
The butterflies emerged as symbols of Spirit-led freedom—rising, lifting, and leading us from hidden places into light. Each one is unique, layered, and textured—just like the process of becoming. They represent not just transformation, but the beauty of release, of flying into the unknown with trust.
Through prayer and reflection, I felt God whisper the word “evolve.” Not as reinvention, but as invitation. A calling to live from my new creation identity, not striving toward it. To stop trying to fix what had already died with Christ, and instead rise with Him into a light-filled world.
This painting is part of that rising.
