"In this painting, I strove to capture the simple beauty of the nude in an easy posture with a dreamlike quality. The red drape behind her frames this faraway feeling with a classic nineteenth century feel but with a twenty-first century modern sensibility. I feel drawn to the nude as a subject because it is so classic and yet so dreamy. I feel swept into an internal world of imagination, of possibility, of past and future combined, of stillness, of pondering. I paint the nude for the timelessness of the process and of the result. I hope that quality transmutes to the viewer to feel that something elevated, that makes us all feel connected through our lightness, our possibilities."
