New Orleans, Louisiana
Sarah Griffin Thibodeaux is a contemporary realist artist living in New Orleans. She paints the figure, still life, landscape, and portrait alla prima.
MessageSarah Griffin Thibodeaux paints cityscapes of New Orleans and other dreamy destinations, still life of what's on her kitchen table, in oils and watercolor in this collection: “City Life.”
Griffin Thibodeaux paints locations near and dear to her heart: Faubourg Marigny shotguns, Louisiana wildlife, French Quarter architecture, as well as the details of moments of life: sitting at a cafe, a child doing homework, lemons in a bowl. It is these moments that make up our lives and make it sweet, if we can only savor them.
Griffin Thibodeaux also paints commissioned portraits, live events and weddings, paints family memory paintings from snapshots of gatherings or everyday moments--from a father and son fishing in a stream to middle school baseball players swinging for the fences up at bat.
After teaching for a decade at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts, she now in New Orleans at her school North Light Fine Art, which offers in person instruction, fun art outings, and travel workshops (Coastal Maine or Alscace, France, anyone?).
She lives in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood of New Orleans with her husband and twin sons, who love baseball, Star Wars, and mythology. Griffin Thibodeaux is constantly amazed by life and its riches that continue to unfold in spite of everything in the news. On any given day you may find her meditating, jogging slowly, or air drumming in the car to her favorite musical.
