Statement
I grew up with an excess of imagination in a house overflowing with books and artifacts. My art reflects this with its vibrant synthesis of collage and paint, characterized by dynamic interplay between historical imagery and expressive abstraction. My compositions are richly layered, combining hand-printed papers, book pages, and ephemera sourced from esoteric archives with bold, gestural mark-making. The result is a visual tapestry where fragments of the past are reimagined in luminous color and energetic form. I also endow my pieces with a sense of movement and rhythm—patterns, text, and found images emerge and recede, creating a sense of both discovery and mystery. The palettes I work with are often bright and unexpected, with technicolor hues that animate the surface and invite close inspection. There’s a palpable sense of curiosity and play, but also an underlying depth: the layering of materials and histories suggests themes of memory, transformation, and the complexity of identity.
