The serene Shiva sculpture is located deep inside a rock cut cave at Elephanta island near Mumbai. It dates back to the mid 5th - 7th century CE. Though sculpted in the very hard basalt rock, it beautifully depicts the serene expression. With very low available light and no tripods permitted, I had to photograph it handheld, with a digital SLR camera.
