Materials: Hand-dyed and/or discharged cotton fabrics, cotton batting, Thiox, Indigo vat
Techniques: I created the fabrics using Itajime and Arashi Shibori techniques with Discharge, overdyed with Indigo, Machine pieced, machine quilted with variegated thread
Artist Statement: As the sands shift, I dream of civilizations past. A celestial message of hope in these ever-changing, unpredictable times. Spirals are a common shape found in nature as well as sacred architecture. The nautilus are considered living fossils. This is my interpretation of the patterns and traditions of marking cloth handed down from our ancestors. I search for Sapphire skies……
