As my grandson embarked on his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela, I felt inspired to create this painting. At the age of 80, I saw myself as a fellow pilgrim, journeying through the unexplored territory of my remaining years, eagerly anticipating the ultimate destination. These contemplations filled me with a deep sense of fulfillment and optimism. They reminded me that as we engage with the world, embracing the uniqueness of others, we simultaneously gain a greater familiarity with our own inner wilderness. This realization has the power to positively impact our lives in numerous ways. It encourages us to embrace new experiences, to appreciate the diversity around us, and to embark on our own personal quests of self-discovery. By stepping beyond our comfort zones and embracing the unknown, we open ourselves up to a more enriched and meaningful existence. Through the exploration of both the external and internal landscapes, we can uncover hidden treasures within ourselves and forge authentic connections with others. These insights invite us to embark on transformative journeys, fostering personal growth, and nurturing a genuine appreciation for the beauty and wonder of life.
