Artist Statement:
In a modern version of Aesop’s famous “The Tortoise and The Hare”, we see the two animals competing as artists. The Hare is depicted as a high-tech bullet train, speeding towards a bleak landscape created by Artificial Intelligence and void of the humanity and emotion that gives art its life. The Tortoise is a traditional artist. He travels slow but steady, carrying his well-used art supplies, and admiring the tiny details along his journey. He’s surrounded by other artists of the natural world: a bee, a spider, and a caterpillar. The hope of new creations and beauty sprout with each footstep he takes, no matter how slow they are.
