"Positive Interactions" and "Rising Sun" are two of five Bruce Niemi pieces in the Saint John’s collection, donated by former resident John Randall in 2004 in memory of his wife Dorothy.
Niemi is a sculptor who works in highly polished steel. In his youth, Bruce worked with his father Frank, a self-taught abstract sculptor and ornamental iron artist. Bruce’s sculpting process features a large-scale sheet metal roller. He worked in his Kenosha studio until he recently retired from metal sculpting due to health complications from heavy metal toxicity.
Years ago, Bruce coordinated sculpture shows held here at the Saint John’s Plaza. Saint John's Niemi's works are featured throughout the Town Center level. “Rising Sun” came to Saint John’s via an art show in Southern Wisconsin. He has numerous public sculptures across the country, with many in Illinois and Wisconsin.
