‘Too Cool for School’ is a celebration of nature's vibrant beauty, encapsulating the lively essence of a tropical underwater world. Measuring an impressive 7 feet by 2 feet, this dynamic piece draws the viewer into an immersive experience of color and movement. The work is meticulously crafted from glass beads, each one shimmering with an exquisite brilliance that mirrors the fluidity and sparkle of ocean waters.
At its heart, this artwork brings to life a school of Panda Butterfly fish, elegantly swimming across a serene blue background. The fish are intricately designed with striking yellow outlines framing their bodies, with display detailed white surfaces adorned with bold black stripes. This attention to detail adds a layer of complexity and realism, capturing the viewer's gaze and inviting closer inspection. The arrangement of the fish, positioned thoughtfully at various heights, creates an engaging pattern that suggests a graceful dance, alive with rhythm and energy.
Too Cool For School is a school of 30 Panda Butterflyfish, each a part of a whole but yet upon closer examination each is unique as well. One fish (representing me) is trying to ecsape the school and swims in the opposite direction. 2 years of work went into the creation of this piece. with the background acrylic pour being created by artist Rick Lowe.
