Ding, ding, ding! The timekeeper's bell is the most recognizable sound in professional wrestling, found ringside at every match, and occasionally even in the ring as a weapon. The sculpture is based on actual bells used in matches in the WWF and the wrestling territories.
The title is a quote by Vince McMahon from the infamous Montreal Screwjob, one of the most significant matches in the history of pro wrestling. The consequential moment in Montreal comes when Shawn Michaels holds Bret Hart in the Sharpshooter and McMahon, standing at ringside, yells "Ring the Damn Bell!" to end the match and complete his covert plan to change the predetermined outcome of the match.
The sculpture is made almost entirely from wood, including the bell, bolt head, and hammer. The chain, handmade from steel wire, is the only genuine metal in the sculpture. The blue lacquer has been intentionally weathered to give the illusion of wear and tear from years of use at wrestling house shows. The artwork is made ready to hang or can be laid flat.
