Anna Arzt is a Philippine born artist. She and her husband lived in NY, NJ, China, India and in the Philippines, before finally settling down in Greenville, SC to raise their two children. She is a specialist in 19th Century Philippine Fine Art and has worked in many capacities in the art world. 

Originally a painter, Anna Arzt shifted to fiber art and weaving because of its tactile quality and the optical challenges it presents in using color. Her art explores materiality and process. Primarily working in tapestry as a form of contemporary craft, the labor intensive steps in making the work is the artist’s response to the fast-paced and results-based world we now live in. With this slow-art form, Anna not only aims to inspire contemplation, but by practicing an age-old craft, she hopes to encourage art collectors to get to know artisans and craftsmen behind handmade items whose works are often devalued by commerce and globalization. Also a basket weaver, she combines basketry techniques with weaving to add sculptural elements to her work.
