Sato Juzo (born 1943) is a Japanese ceramic artist renowned for his work in Shino-yaki (Shino ware). He emerged in the late 20th century as a dedicated Mino-ware potter, helping to carry forward the revival of Shino ceramics that began mid-century. Sato was born in 1943 and, according to collectors, he became known as a Shino-yaki specialist, active around the 1990s and based in the Osaka area . This is somewhat unusual, since Shino ware is historically rooted in the Mino region (present-day Gifu Prefecture). Sato Juzo is affiliated with the Mino ceramic tradition – in particular, many of his works are produced at the Jūbei-gama (Jubei Kiln), a kiln dedicated to Mino-style pottery. Through this kiln, Sato has created a wide range of tea wares (tea bowls, water jars, etc.) in classical Mino styles such as Shino and Oribe. For example, Sato has crafted not only Shino-glazed tea bowls but also black Oribe wares , demonstrating his grounding in the broader Mino tradition.
