Ohashi Shuji (1795–1857) E-Seto chawan for tea ceremony with old wooden box
The name of the potter is carved near the foot ring.
There is a writing by a master of tea ceremony. The inside of the lid shows the author's name and the Japanese word for the seasons, "Setsugetsuka", which means "snow, moon, flowers."
It embodies the wabi-sabi philosophy of appreciating imperfection, impermanence, and the passage of time—core ideas in the Japanese tea ceremony. This suggests the tea bowl is named Setsugetsuka as a tribute to nature’s fleeting beauty.
