BIO:
Rosie Brouse started art training at a contemporary art highschool, followed by a BFA in sculpture at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where her sculptures abstracted animals in the environment. To earn a living she worked in commercial construction and that lead her to her final career in civil engineering. Now she paints, cooks and enjoys life with her husband and dog on an island in the Salish Sea.
Artist's Statement:
The dichotomy between the wildness of the world and a sense of promise for something wonderful is what gets me. I see the landscape as the setting in which we reside and in which these qualities are embodied. My ultimate artistic goals are to reflect these emotive contrasts thru the depiction of landscapes by combining realism with gestural mark making.
