Creating Sunburst Symphony in Violet was an immersive process where color and texture guided each decision. I began by sketching the sunflower bouquet lightly on the canvas, aiming to capture their vibrant energy without over-defining every detail. Using thick, expressive oil paint, I built up the petals with bright yellows and infused the centers with rich reds, working quickly to maintain a lively, fresh feel.
The deep green leaves emerged through layered brushstrokes, their varying shades adding depth and contrast. For the background, I chose bold purples applied in textured, sweeping strokes, carefully balancing how intense colors would interact and make the flowers stand out. I wanted the paint itself to come alive, so I embraced the roughness and movement in every mark.
Rendering the clear vase was a study in simplicity and restraint — I layered transparent washes and subtle highlights to anchor the bouquet without competing with it. Beneath the vase, I introduced soft pink tones with spontaneous white abstract patterns, a playful addition that expanded the space and brought unexpected rhythm to the base of the composition.
Throughout the process, I let the piece evolve organically, responding to how the colors and textures spoke to one another, layering and revising until the painting felt like a harmonious symphony of petals, paint, and light.
