Maria Elena Sayan, professionally known as Mita Lazarte. Mita is a self-taught artist focusing primarily on painting plein air landscapes, flowers, and still-life. Having painted the majority of her like, Mita first got her inspiration from the beautiful landscapes, turquoise lakes, and picturesque white mountain caps surrounding her hometown of Caraz, Ancash , Peru located in the Andes Mountains of South America.
In 1993 Mita her husband and two kids emigrated to USA. Throughout years of full-time work and raising her children, Mita always found time for her passions of painting. More recently in the past few years, Mita has been challenging herself to improve by participating in painting courses, workshops and to be part in different art shows at the Yellow Barn Studio, Wheaton Art Parade Gallery, MAA ( wining the first place two consecutive years at Oasis show 2019 and 2020 and honorable mention in the category still life at Paint the Town Kensington 2021) and RAL. 2023 I received the First Prize with my painting "Playful Summer" at the Rockville Art League Essence of Summer Show.
