Artist: Mary Kosterlitz (USA, b. 1954)
I am an amateur artist and have been painting in oils for about eight years after my retirement from the federal government as a lawyer. I have taken classes locally at Montgomery College, the Washington Studio School and the Yellow Barn Studio. Since Covid, I have also been doing online figure drawing sessions with the Scottish Borders Life Drawing Club. My paintings and drawings have been shown at local juried events including the Yellow Barn Studio Annual Members 26th and 27th shows. In the 26th show, that was judged by Harry Cooper, the Senior Curator and Head of Modern Art at the National Gallery of Art, I won Honorable Mention for my oil painting, Autumn Prelude. I also exhibited paintings in the Montgomery Art Association Paint the Town Labor Day Show in 2022 and their Fall Art at Windridge Vineyard Exhibit in 2022. In addition, one of my paintings of the Potomac at Great Falls has been accepted for the Maryland Waterways Exhibit conducted by the City of Gaithersburg and the Arts Alliance of the Gaithersburg Parks, Arts and Recrecreation Corporation.
