Life has a funny way of coming full circle. I suppose you could say I’m a late bloomer.
When I was young, I doodled all the time. Sketches hidden on scraps of paper. Always pen in hand ready to scribble on a notepad. Filling notebooks with drawings in the margins next to notes about calculus or literature. But college, grad school, and professional life took me in a different direction. Now after many years helping corporate and government clients solve difficult communication problems, it's time to stretch.
At its core, my work always included looking at how language and design work together for clarity. Now I'm seeing things in new ways. Painting is just another form of communication. Perhaps a more intimate one.
What’s hidden in the shadows? What small moments do others overlook?
In this bustling world, depicting scenes that move me emotionally, that capture occasions of quietude, that echo the silence — that’s what’s important to communicate now. Working in acrylics and oils, I'm painting landscapes, flowers, scenes from foreign cities, people caught unguarded, pets, peaceful scenes. Places of solace. Wonder. Awe.
