'Ashland in Autumn' was inspired by a walk on a crisp Autumn day in Lithia park in Ashland Oregon, one of which will forever be etched in my mind - one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The reflections of the Japanese gardens, or what I perceived as Japanese gardens, was breathtaking. These are my memories, in abstract.
Numerous acrylic washes and countless, subtle layered glazes create the luminous effects of the glowing gardens.
A unique, one of a kind piece that could never be duplicated, especially when you consider the custom frame which IS an integral part of the artwork.
This piece is comprised of two panels, (1/2" deep, 18.5 x 28.5), that I've mounted (raised significantly for effect) within a custom frame (photos included). Of course the artwork can be removed and mounted as a buyer may wish but I find the effect dramatic and showcases the art well. I've added a distinctive green inner wooden accent liner within the frame.
One of my favorite pieces - has an Asian flair to it. Peaceful gardens appeared in the background.
